Lady Chicken and Mr. Rooster

During the last week I was wrapping again, wrapping until I came up with these two:
Lady chicken,

and Mr. rooster.
Both of them were made using my new technique of wrapping recycled strips of fabric on top of each other.
I was trying to test this technique by creating more detailed creatures, incorporating the crochet and embroidery I use when creating my other creatures.
I was quite obsessed with their details, as I always am.
I made the poor rooster put his crocheted vest on and take it off at least 8 times, until I came to the decision that he is the kind of rooster that should wear a vest.
As you can see, they are quite detail-oriented too, and they don't like it when I don't clean the window rails.
Besides that, they have a lot of fun together.

Mr. big creature

So here he is: Mr. big creature! He was waiting for long time on my crochet hooks, kept me busy crocheting, unpicking and re-crocheting, till yesterday, when he told me "that's it, I am ready to go out". I had some doubts, but he was determined, pointed the camera and said: "now!"
Comparing to my other creatures he is quite big, he stands 28m/11.2" tall; including his tail, he is 35cm/14" long and approximately 25cm/10" width.
It was a new challenge for me to deal with such a big dude, after all the miniatures I have been creating lately.
He was crocheted by fabric scraps, remains of sewing workshop, one of many we have around in the neighborhood (I should tell more about it in another post soon).
I painted his eyes on small spheres, and crocheted the eyelashes by vintage hairy yarn.
As he doesn't like it when it's cold he would always wear his blue scarf on.
Sometime he can turn moody.

A rest would cheer him up.
*He is now listed at my etsy doll store.

Lady creature

Little Lady Creature holds her little handbag and wears her pink sweater – all ready to go out and explore the world. She has doubts about it; maybe it would be better staying in.

Lady creature is made out of unique combination of materials and techniques; her body, hands, and tail are made out of upcycled old socks. Her sweater made out of old sock as well, it has too tiny pockets and two studs. It can be taken off too.The crocheted vest collar embellished with small piece of vintage lace ribbon. The same lace ribbon is also used as the creature's headband and pieces of it stitched the back of her ears. This ribbon is at least 70 years old, it was belonged to my grandmother and I received it as a special gift from her few years ago. Her head is crocheted with cotton threads and facial features are embroidered.

*Lady creature is listed at my etsy doll store.
