More about the Geranium

I found more photos of the cloth Geranium branch, it was really funny to see the reaction of the visitors to the branch, some people were so curious about how I manged to transfer it to the Netherlands, they thought there is real branches inside it, so I just invited them to touch and feel that it is all stuffed by soft poly-fill.
From the street it looked like that
These photos were hanged on the facade, it was the most complicated part of the preparation for the exhibition. While creating all the objects for the indoor installation, I used the needlecraft that I am experienced with, I have to thought about technical solutions, and it is true that I have never sewed a branch of geranium or life size armchair before, but yet all the technical solutions came from the needlecraft world which I am so familiar with. Shooting these closeups and enlarging them into this size, forced me to learn much more about photography, lightning, and editing images for printing. It is funny to think about it now, but it was so frustrating at the time of making, and so exciting to see it hanged on the facade of the shaking hand house.

Blossom

Remember my geranium, the one with the wilted flowers, and the new buds, it is now flowering ,
growing new leaves

and sending out new roots every day.

It is amazing for Geranium to grow up like that in a vase inside the house, without getting much daylight.

It is so beautiful, sometimes I feel as if it is trying to compete my cloth one, and laughing about my efforts of sculpturing its shape LOL.

In the other hand maybe it is just signing me new paths and directions that I should follow, in order to flower by myself and not getting wilted.
I hope so, as the date of my Maastricht exhibition getting closer I am becoming more and more excited, nervous and full of fears. I would better follow the flowering signs, and go back stitching.
This is the beginning of the new textile object I am stitching at the moment.
Any guess what it is going to be? I will let you know in a few days, promise!

flowering

My Geranium is now done, all the flowers and leaves are now stitched to the branches and the little branches to the main one.
Now I can't wait to see it hanged on the window it was planned for, in maastricht, this May.

Sending out new roots

At the last few days, the geranium flowers I picked from my father garden few weeks ago are been wilted.

It is been wilted since I began stitching the cloth flowers.
Each geranium flower is made up of many small units, so I spent few days stitching these small units.
Let's say it is not fascinating making one hundred of them, the skin of my fingers became stiff and heart when I am making more then five at once, it is very slowly too.
Stitching them made me feel desperate, regretting I began with it at first place.

This morning I already had enough to gather them into flowers.

My geranium branch seems to be dying so I took this photos for "immortalizing".

Then I noticed that there is new leaves growing up.

And it is even sending out new roots. I thought that when the flower are wilted the branch will pass away quickly.
Those new leave and root made me so happy, while I was into the small flowers stitching I didn't pay any attention for what is going on around me, unless it was being wilted, and suddenly what a surprise.
I think it is some kind of sign or something the plant trying to say, like: "hey, I am not only my flowers, you must look much more carefully in order to know who I really am and how I really feel, it is much more complicated then one can see at a glance".
I can remember many situations in my life I wanted to say that to others, don't you?

Meanwhile the first cloth flower was stitched together.

Cloth geranium leaves

Here they are the geranium leaves, firstly I thought to sew together two pieces of fabric, turn over and stuff, so they will look like little pillows, but then I came up with the idea of the two sides fusible interfacing, which merge the two pieces of fabric together without sewing.
While stitching the leaves to the branches I am wondering how to create the geranium flowers look, that's going to be much more complicated.

Shades

Most of the cloth Geranium branches are now stitched to the main one, I yet have to add the leaves and flowers.
It is almost spring here, and at the afternoon there is beautiful shades, perfect for my dolls,
and for me too.
