Taking care

A new bunch of sock creatures is being gathered on my desk every morning.
At the moment, I am busy with a few other projects, so I can’t dedicate much time to stitching them.

The sock creatures don’t give up, and every time I come back home, I find them quite busy taking care of each other.

There is always something that keeps them occupied.

Little treasures

I have some beautiful little treasures to share today.
They were all made by my cute little students, 6-8 year old, during the last school year.
This little creature is known as a penguin, it was created by one of the sweetest, gifted and enthusiastic student I have ever taught.
One day, with a shy voice, she asked if she can show something to the class, then she took out of her bag this lovely pillow she had created during the weekend.
I asked her with whom did she make it, and she answered she did it by her own, since no one in her family knows how to stitch.
At the last month they have created sock dolls same as I had already taught dozens of times.
The girl who created this doll insisted to create a long curly hair for her doll, just the same she has.
I had no idea how can she make it and then she came up with the idea of cutting fabrics strips in zigzags that look like the curls she has.
This one is quite accessorized as you can see.
and this one has only one sock, the other one had been created till the last minute of the class.

New home

After two weeks, packing and unpacking, finally things get in order.
It seems like Boby doesn't care much about all this moving thing, he just sits on the TV chest, and wonder about life, same as he always did before.
The guys in the vitrine can hardly feel the change,
And I got new working space.

After the haircut the hair was every where, it became itching, and the crochet doll was in need of some help.

The crochet doll was fascinated to see all the hair on the floor.

The spirits of Etsy dolls

For long time I was wondering what all this etsy treasury thing is all about. I did saw some lovely collections at the front page, but never really understood why should one be bother in creating them. Not only creating but also waiting in the queue for it. You have to wait till number of treasuries dropped down to 332, something that doesn't happen often.
Last weekend, as I was featured in two different treasuries, I decided that I am going to give it a try! The number of active treasuries was about 590, so meanwhile I picked up to my favorites all the etsy dolls that I loved, I tried to look for the special ones with the unique expressions and details, those who seemed like having a spirit.
This noon the numbers began to drop down. I was waiting till it got to 332 and walla I managed to create my first etsy Treasury.
Please check it out here!
I need much views and clicks (for the featured items) for it, I have a secret wish to get up to the Etsy front page (It happens only to the most viewed and clicked treasuries).
I must admit all this treasury thing is addictive.

Couple of artists

Lately I missed a bit some of my dolls which I already sent abroad, so I decided to feature them on magnets. I know they are spending great time there, this is something I am really glad about, that the people who bought my dolls are keeping in touch with me and I know what is going on with my dolls overseas.
This couple for instance was cheering up someone who had to spent long time in hospital. As I was reported they were doing it quite well and even stimulated the doctors and nurses curiosity
.

I like this couple, they are both really artistic.
About the woman I don't know whether she was singer, dancer, painter or maybe a bit of all. Nowadays she is taking some time off, but I assume she is preparing her comeback.

The man as you can see is a writer, deep in his thoughts, concentrating in a some sentence he is trying to compose for long hours already. He is spending his days like that for years.
You can find bot of the Magnets at my Etsy store

Cloth dolls workshop

I was teaching three days cloth dolls workshop for 10-12 years old six cute girls, the cutest, most silent girls, and creative girls I have ever taught. It could be so exhausting and frustrating, teaching kids this age, but it was completely different with these ones.
Today was the last day and I am so glad and proud to show you the results.

It is bit weird but most of them never stitched any thing by hands before, so I wanted to let them practice the blanket stitch, while creating something of their own.
These funny heads made by the toe parts of used socks were perfect beginning. After three hours they came up with well done and full of characters theses mini dolls.

Most of the second day was dedicate for sketching, I asked them to use collage techniques, to create their own innovative unique designs.

I wished to see many colorful characters made by creative use of different colorful papers, fabric scraps, crayons, marker pens, old journal, which I spread out all over the studio, but most of them preferred to use only pencil and rubber.

Then I instructed them how to prepare the pattern according to each design.
We used discarded clothes instead of new fabrics.

Today they stitch all over the day, and Walla here are the results:

So cute, don't you think?

Dolls magnets

Using the transfer printing I made yesterday few new magnets. It is a great fun to explore all the old folders containing the photos of all the dolls I made at the past three years and pick my favorites.
It makes me miss some and the process of creating them. I will have to make new ones soon. Digging these folders gave me new ideas, and meanwhile I glad to have those magnets close to my desk, each of them carry some memories, and inspires me keeping on creating my new stuff in days I wish only staying in bed.
They are available at my etsy and dawanda stores.
